Your own Telegram baseline
With no comparable 2026 average for Telegram, take your last 3 months: if posts averaged 120 engagements on 8,000 followers, your baseline is 1.5%. Judge the next month against that number, using the same formula.
To calculate your Telegram engagement rate, add the likes, comments and shares for a period, divide by your followers multiplied by the number of posts, and multiply by 100. Enter those numbers in the calculator and the rate updates as you type, with the formula shown. Compare it with your own earlier results and with accounts your size. No major 2026 report publishes a comparable per-post average for Telegram, so compare against your own past months.

Average engagement per post, as a share of your followers.
Formula
(likes + comments + shares) ÷ (followers × posts) × 100
On Telegram, enter shares (forwards to other chats) in the shares field. Nothing you type leaves your browser.
Add up the interactions for a period, divide by your followers multiplied by the number of posts, and multiply by 100. That is engagement rate by followers, the method most reports use. Engagement rate by reach divides each post’s interactions by the accounts that saw it instead, which rewards posts that land well with the people who see them.
| Method | Formula | Best for |
|---|---|---|
| By followers | Interactions ÷ (followers × posts) × 100 | Comparing periods and accounts |
| By reach | Interactions ÷ reach × 100, per post | Judging one post’s content |

Telegram channels have no likes: a post shows its view count, and admins see shares and emoji reactions per post in the channel’s Statistics. Put reactions in the likes field and shares in the shares field, and leave comments at zero if your channel has none. Because every post shows its views, many channels also track view rate: views divided by subscribers.
| Metric | What it counts | In the rate? |
|---|---|---|
| Views | Times the post has been seen, shown under every post | Divide by subscribers for view rate |
| Reactions | Emoji reactions, where reactions are turned on | Yes, in the likes field |
| Shares | Forwards of the post to other chats | Yes, in the shares field |
| Followers | Subscribers to the channel | The calculator’s followers field |
| Enabled notifications | Share of subscribers with notifications on | Context: how many see a post as it is sent |

640 likes + 96 comments + 64 shares = 800 engagements. 800 ÷ (8,000 × 8) = 0.0125, so the Telegram engagement rate is 1.25% per post.
