Social media scheduling API docs: build on SkedCast

These social media scheduling API docs cover one REST API, a typed SDK, and a remote MCP server — schedule posts, read analytics, and connect AI agents to your workspace. How AI agents use SkedCast

Prompts for your AI coding agent

Paste one into Claude Code, Cursor or Copilot. Each points the agent at the machine-readable docs and states the rules that matter, so it builds the integration correctly the first time.

  • Add social scheduling to my app

Schedule a post to the accounts you choose, safely, with the REST API or the TypeScript SDK.

I want to add social media scheduling to this project with the SkedCast API.

    1. Read https://skedcast.com/developers/llms.txt first (the whole API in one page), then https://skedcast.com/openapi.json for exact request shapes.
    2. Read the API key from the SKEDCAST_API_KEY environment variable. Never hard-code it or commit it, and add it to .env.example.
    3. If this is a TypeScript project, use the official @skedcast/sdk package; otherwise call the REST API directly.
    4. Write one function that schedules a post to the connected accounts I choose. Send an Idempotency-Key header on every write so a retry never double-posts, and on HTTP 429 wait for the Retry-After header before retrying.
    5. Show me your plan and the files you will change before you edit anything.
  • Connect SkedCast to my AI client

Add the remote MCP server to Claude Code, Cursor or VS Code.

Connect the SkedCast MCP server to my AI client.

    - Server URL: https://api.skedcast.com/mcp (remote, OAuth 2.1 — I approve the connection in the browser, so there is no API key to paste).
    - For Claude Code the command is: claude mcp add --transport http skedcast https://api.skedcast.com/mcp
    - For Cursor or VS Code, add it to my MCP configuration file as a remote server with that URL.
    - Read https://skedcast.com/developers/mcp-tools.md for the list of tools. Tools marked write change something: ask me before calling one.

Tell me which client you detected and what you changed.
  • Receive and verify webhooks

A signed webhook endpoint that checks every delivery before it acts.

Add a webhook endpoint to this project that receives SkedCast events.

    1. Read https://skedcast.com/developers/webhook-examples.md for the event names and payloads, and https://skedcast.com/developers/llms.txt for how deliveries are signed.
    2. Verify the X-SkedCast-Signature header against the raw request body with the webhook signing secret before doing anything else. Reject a delivery that fails.
    3. Keep the signing secret in an environment variable, never in code.
    4. Return a 2xx quickly and process the event after responding. Make the handler safe to run twice for the same event.
    5. Add a test that sends a correctly signed and a wrongly signed payload.
  • Explore the API without changing anything

Look around with a read-only key before you build.

Help me explore the SkedCast API without changing any data.

Read https://skedcast.com/openapi.json, then list every read operation (GET) with the scope it needs. Using a read-only API key from the SKEDCAST_API_KEY environment variable, show me my connected accounts and my next 5 scheduled posts. Do not call any endpoint that creates, updates or deletes anything.

Social media scheduling API docs FAQ

Where do I find the social media scheduling API docs?
Right here — this hub links the quickstart, authentication, the full /v1 reference, the MCP server, and the TypeScript SDK, all built from the same OpenAPI 3.1 spec the API itself serves.
Do I need the REST API, the MCP server, or the SDK?
Use the REST API for a written integration in any language, the MCP server to connect an AI agent like Claude, and the TypeScript SDK if you're already on a Node or TypeScript stack and want a typed client instead of raw HTTP.
Is there a sandbox or do I need a live account to try the API?
You need a SkedCast workspace and an API key or OAuth 2.1 client to make real calls — the quickstart walks through getting both, and every request is validated the same way whether it comes from the console, the API, or an agent.
How do I confirm a scheduled post actually published?
Subscribe to webhooks for post-status events, or poll the post endpoint — both are documented with real payload examples in the webhooks and API reference pages linked from this hub.
Does the documentation stay in sync with the real API?
Yes — the reference pages and the OpenAPI 3.1 spec are generated from the same source the API runs on, so a documented endpoint or field is never out of date with what actually ships.
