What are Bluesky’s post limits?
A Bluesky post holds 300 characters of text, counted as graphemes, plus up to 4 images, one video, a link card or a quoted post. The limits come from Bluesky’s own AT Protocol definitions and its announcements; SkedCast’s column is what its composer accepts:

Does Bluesky cut off long posts?
No. Bluesky shows a post in full in the feed; there is no “more” link that hides the end of it. The only limit is the 300-character ceiling, which the composer will not let you pass, so a post that fits shows exactly as written. Put the point of the post in the first line anyway, since that is what people read as they scroll.
How do links and link cards work on Bluesky?
A link in the text counts by the text shown, so a long address can be shortened to readable words. A post can also carry one link card, with the page’s title, description and image, which takes the place of attached images or a quoted post. In SkedCast you set the card’s address in the post’s Bluesky options, and the preview shows the text as it will appear.
How do you use the Bluesky post preview?
- Paste your Bluesky caption. Type or paste your draft Bluesky caption into the box; nothing you type is uploaded anywhere.
- Add an image URL (optional). Paste a public image URL to see it in the mockup frame, or leave it blank to preview the caption alone.
- Confirm Bluesky is selected. This page opens with Bluesky selected; switch platforms in the tabs above the preview to compare.
- Check the character limit. The preview flags any text past Bluesky’s 300-character limit, which cannot be posted.
- Trim to fit. If the post runs over, shorten it or split it into a thread, keeping the key message in the first line.
