Bluesky character counter

Bluesky’s post text limit is 300 characters. Paste or type your text and this counter shows how many characters you have used and how many are left as you type, counting emoji and spaces the way Bluesky does. It checks the same text against every other network at once, so you can see where one version fits. Bluesky posts take up to 300 characters.

How do you use the Bluesky character counter?

  1. Paste or type your Bluesky caption. Put your draft Bluesky caption or post text into the box; nothing you type is uploaded anywhere.
  2. Read the Bluesky row first. Find Bluesky in the per-platform list to see its exact limit, the characters left, and whether you are over.
  3. Check every other platform too. Scroll the same list to see the identical caption measured against every other platform SkedCast supports, all in one pass.
  4. Watch words and hashtags. The summary above the list also counts total words and hashtags, so you can keep your hashtag set deliberate.
  5. Trim or write a platform-specific variant. If the Bluesky row shows over-limit, shorten the caption or write a separate version just for Bluesky instead of cutting every version to the tightest limit.

What are the Bluesky rules to know?

What does it look like in practice?

A long post on Bluesky

Bluesky does not fold the text behind "…more", so a 280-character post shows in full; the hard stop is 300 characters.

Bluesky’s real character limit

Bluesky’s post text limit is 300 characters, counted as what you see (grapheme clusters), including multi-part emoji, rather than raw code points. That is the same number shown in the counter’s Bluesky row, and the same rule SkedCast’s own composer enforces before a post ships.

Bluesky character counter FAQ

What is Bluesky’s character limit for a post text?
Bluesky’s post text limit is 300 characters, counted as what you see (grapheme clusters), including multi-part emoji, rather than raw code points. It updates automatically if Bluesky changes the number, since the counter reads it from the same limit table SkedCast’s composer uses.
Can I post text only on Bluesky?
Yes. Bluesky accepts a text-only post, up to 300 characters.
Will Bluesky cut off a long caption?
Bluesky does not truncate the text in the feed, so the whole post shows; the limit that matters is the 300-character maximum.
How many hashtags can a Bluesky post have?
SkedCast enforces no hashtag cap for Bluesky; the practical limit is the 300-character text limit and what reads well.
What happens to a link in a Bluesky post?
The link counts at its real length, and Bluesky shows a link-preview card for it.
Is this a separate counter built just for Bluesky?
It is the same counter as our general caption and character counter, which checks every network at once; this page explains Bluesky’s own limits.
