Before you connect
- A Telegram channel you administer.
- A bot created through @BotFather, added to that channel as an administrator with the "Post Messages" right specifically enabled.
How to connect Telegram
- 1Message @BotFather on Telegram and send /newbot (or reuse an existing bot) to get a bot token.
- 2Add that bot to your channel’s administrators, and turn on the "Post Messages" permission for it.
- 3In SkedCast, go to Settings → Connections → Connect Telegram, and paste the bot token.
- 4Pick the destination channel — SkedCast checks the bot can actually post there before saving the connection.
Common connection problems
- The bot can’t post — a "not enough rights" error.
- The bot must be an administrator of the channel with the specific "Post Messages" right turned on. Open the channel’s Administrators list in Telegram and confirm that permission is enabled for the bot.
- A connection that worked for months suddenly stops.
- Regenerating the bot’s token in @BotFather ("Revoke current token") immediately invalidates the old one everywhere it was used, including in SkedCast. Grab the new token from @BotFather and paste it into Connections.
- The bot disappeared from the channel’s member list.
- If the bot was removed as an administrator (or removed from the channel entirely), re-add it as an administrator with "Post Messages" rights, then reconnect in SkedCast.

- Do I need my own Telegram bot, or does SkedCast provide one?
- You create your own bot through Telegram’s official @BotFather — this keeps the bot and its permissions entirely under your control, and means only channels you explicitly add it to can ever be posted to.
- Why does SkedCast ask me to pick a channel separately from the bot token?
- The token identifies the bot, not a destination — a single bot can be an administrator of several channels. SkedCast asks which channel to post to per connection (and per post) because the bot token alone doesn’t determine that.
