Before you connect
- A Bluesky handle (e.g. yourname.bsky.social).
- An app password generated in Bluesky’s own settings — not your main account password.
How to connect Bluesky
- 1In Bluesky, go to Settings → App passwords → Add app password, and give it a name like "SkedCast".
- 2Copy the generated app password (Bluesky only shows it once).
- 3In SkedCast, go to Settings → Connections → Connect Bluesky, and enter your handle plus the app password.
- 4SkedCast verifies the credentials and establishes the connection.
Common connection problems
- Bluesky says the app password is invalid.
- App passwords can be individually revoked from Bluesky’s Settings → App passwords without touching your main account password. If SkedCast’s stopped working, generate a fresh app password there and re-enter it in Connections — disconnecting doesn’t revoke the old one automatically, so revoke it yourself once you’ve replaced it.
- Connecting unexpectedly asks for a verification code.
- Bluesky can require an extra authentication-factor confirmation on some sign-ins. Complete it once and the connection should establish normally afterward.
- Video posts fail, but text and image posts work fine.
- Video publishing needs an internal Bluesky account identifier that’s only captured on a fresh connection. If you connected before SkedCast added Bluesky video support, reconnect once to pick it up.

- Does SkedCast ever see my main Bluesky password?
- No. You generate a separate app password in Bluesky’s own settings and enter only that — your main account password is never entered into SkedCast.
- Will Bluesky move to OAuth for third-party apps like SkedCast?
- Bluesky has been rolling out OAuth for developers building on the platform, and app passwords remain a supported way to connect in the meantime. If that changes for third-party schedulers, this page will be updated with the new flow.
