Connect your LinkedIn account to a social media scheduler (and fix connection problems)

Connect your LinkedIn account to SkedCast, a social media scheduler, in a few steps. SkedCast can publish to your personal LinkedIn profile or to any Company Page you administer. Both use the same OAuth connection; a Company Page additionally requires that you be a listed administrator of it.

Before you connect

  • For a personal profile: just your own LinkedIn login.
  • For a Company Page: you must be a listed administrator of that Page — a follower or regular member cannot authorize publishing to it.

How to connect LinkedIn

  1. 1In SkedCast, open Connected Accounts, choose Connect, then LinkedIn — or send the account owner an invite link to connect it themselves.
  2. 2Sign in to LinkedIn and approve the requested permissions — see the exact scopes on the LinkedIn integration page.
  3. 3If you administer one or more Company Pages, pick which one (or your personal profile) to connect.
  4. 4SkedCast confirms the connection and shows the profile or Page name.

What can you publish to LinkedIn once it is connected?

  • A caption of up to 3,000 characters, with or without media.
  • Images: up to 20 per post, JPG, PNG, GIF, up to 5 MB each.
  • Video: one per post, MP4, MOV, WEBM, up to 5 GB each, up to 30 minutes long.
  • GIFs: up to 20 per post, GIF, up to 5 MB each.
  • Documents: one per post, PDF, PPTX, DOCX, up to 100 MB each.
  • Alt text on images, written in the composer.
  • A first comment, published right after the post.
  • Scheduling by SkedCast, which holds the post and publishes it at the time you set.

Common connection problems

Posts that worked for weeks suddenly start failing.
LinkedIn access tokens expire after 60 days. This is expected and not tied to anything you did — reconnect from Connections to refresh it.
Your Company Page doesn’t show up in the picker.
Only Pages where you’re a listed administrator appear. Ask a current admin to add you as an administrator on the Page, or connect a Page you already administer.
Your personal profile connects fine, but Company Page posts fail.
Personal-profile and Company-Page publishing rely on different permissions within the same connection. Reconnect and make sure you approve the organization/Page access screen, not just the personal-profile one.

FAQ

How often do I need to reconnect LinkedIn?
LinkedIn access tokens expire after 60 days by design, so you should expect to reconnect roughly every two months if SkedCast doesn’t prompt you sooner.
Can I connect a Company Page without being its admin?
No. LinkedIn only lets a listed Page administrator authorize a third-party app to publish to that Page.
Can a client connect their own LinkedIn account without sharing a password?
Yes. Send the account owner an invite link from SkedCast. They sign in to LinkedIn themselves and approve the connection, so their password never leaves their hands and you can start scheduling once it is connected.
What happens to scheduled posts if the LinkedIn connection breaks?
They cannot publish until the account is reconnected. SkedCast shows each connection’s health and offers a one-click reconnect; after reconnecting, retry any post that failed in the meantime.
Can I connect more than one LinkedIn account?
Yes. Connect each account separately; they all count toward your plan’s connected-account limit, and you can group them by client so each client’s posts stay apart.
