Before you connect
- Your Instagram account must be a Professional account (Business or Creator) — personal accounts cannot authorize a third-party publishing app. Switch this in the Instagram app under Settings → Account type if needed.
- You need the login credentials for that Instagram account on hand (or to already be signed in to it in your browser).
- No linked Facebook Page is required for this flow — that requirement belongs to the older Facebook Login integration path, which SkedCast does not use.
How to connect Instagram
- 1In SkedCast, go to Settings → Connections and click Connect Instagram.
- 2Sign in with the Professional Instagram account in the window that opens.
- 3Review and approve the permissions SkedCast requests — see the exact scopes on the Instagram integration page.
- 4Confirm the account SkedCast shows you — it labels the connection using your Instagram username and profile picture.
Common connection problems
- Scheduled posts start failing with a session or token error.
- Instagram’s long-lived access token is refreshed automatically roughly every 60 days. If a refresh is missed — or the token is revoked from Instagram’s side — publishing fails until you reconnect. Go to Connections and reconnect Instagram; you’ll go through the same permission screen again.
- Instagram won’t let you select the account at all.
- Only Professional (Business or Creator) accounts can authorize publishing apps. If your account shows as Personal, switch it to Professional in the Instagram app first, then try connecting again.
- You disconnected and reconnected, but something still feels stale.
- SkedCast forces a fresh consent screen on every reconnect specifically so an old grant can’t be silently reused. If Instagram still shows stale permissions, log out of Instagram in your browser first, then reconnect.

FAQ
- Does connecting Instagram to SkedCast require a linked Facebook Page?
- No. SkedCast uses Instagram’s own Business Login for Instagram flow, which authenticates directly with your Instagram account. A linked Facebook Page is only required by the older Facebook Login integration path, which this connection does not use.
- Why does SkedCast ask me to reconnect Instagram periodically?
- Instagram issues a long-lived access token that is valid for about 60 days and is refreshed automatically. If that refresh window is missed for any reason, the token expires and can’t be renewed in place — reconnecting is what re-establishes it.
