Before you connect
- A Google account with a YouTube channel — either a personal channel or a Brand Account both work.
- If more than one person needs access without sharing your Google login, a Brand Account with delegated managers is the better fit.
How to connect YouTube
- 1In SkedCast, open Connected Accounts, choose Connect, then YouTube — or send the account owner an invite link to connect it themselves.

- 3If that Google account owns more than one channel, pick the exact channel to connect from Google’s account chooser.
- 4SkedCast confirms the connection and shows the channel name.
What can you publish to YouTube once it is connected?
- A caption of up to 5,000 characters; every post needs an image or video.
- Video: one per post, MP4, MOV, WEBM, X-MSVIDEO, up to 256 GB each, up to 720 minutes long.
- A first comment, published right after the post.
- Scheduling handed to YouTube itself, which holds the post until its time.
Common connection problems
- Uploads fail with an invalid or expired token.
- Google can revoke a refresh token after a long period of inactivity or certain account security events. Reconnect the channel from Connections to get a fresh one.
- Reconnecting attached the wrong channel.
- A single Google account can own several channels or Brand Accounts. When reconnecting, make sure you explicitly pick the intended channel in Google’s account/channel chooser — signing in with the right Google account alone isn’t enough if it owns more than one channel.
- A video marked "Publish as a Short" doesn’t show up as a Short.
- SkedCast checks the video is 3 minutes or under before uploading. YouTube makes the final Short/long-form classification itself after processing — there’s no dedicated "Shorts" upload endpoint to force it either way. This isn’t a connection problem.
- Subtitles or a first comment were skipped, or YouTube comments are missing from the Inbox.
- These three need YouTube’s comment permission. If the channel was connected without it, the video still publishes without them. Reconnect the channel from Connections and leave every box ticked on Google’s screen.

- Does my YouTube channel need to be a Brand Account to connect?
- No, a personal channel works fine. A Brand Account is only worth setting up if you want to delegate access to teammates without sharing your Google login.
- Why did SkedCast connect the wrong YouTube channel?
- This happens when the Google account you signed in with owns multiple channels and the wrong one was picked in Google’s own chooser during connect. Reconnect and select the correct channel explicitly.
- Can a client connect their own YouTube account without sharing a password?
- Yes. Send the account owner an invite link from SkedCast. They sign in to YouTube themselves and approve the connection, so their password never leaves their hands and you can start scheduling once it is connected.
- What happens to scheduled posts if the YouTube connection breaks?
- They cannot publish until the account is reconnected. SkedCast shows each connection’s health and offers a one-click reconnect; after reconnecting, retry any post that failed in the meantime.
- Can I connect more than one YouTube account?
- Yes. Connect each account separately; they all count toward your plan’s connected-account limit, and you can group them by client so each client’s posts stay apart.
