Emoji picker for Instagram captions

To add emoji to an Instagram post, search or browse 285 common emoji here, click one to copy it, and paste it into your caption, comment or bio. They are standard Unicode emoji, the same characters on every network; Instagram only draws them in its own style. Instagram posts take up to 2,200 characters, shows about 125 before "…more", and allows up to 30 hashtags.

Click any emoji to copy it. Nothing is uploaded — copying happens entirely in your browser.

How do you use the emoji picker for Instagram?

  1. Search or browse by category. Type a word like "fire" or "heart" in the search box, or click a category tab such as Smileys or Hearts to browse instead.
  2. Click an emoji to copy it. Click any emoji in the grid and it is copied to your clipboard immediately — no long-press, right-click or extension needed.
  3. Paste it into your Instagram post. Paste with Ctrl+V or Cmd+V wherever you are writing on Instagram — the caption, a comment, or your bio.
  4. Switch categories for more options. Use the 7 category tabs — Smileys, Gestures, Hearts, Nature, Food, Objects and Symbols — to browse beyond a single search term.
  5. Reuse it for every other platform. The same picker works identically everywhere else too, since Unicode emoji are not specific to any one network or app.

What are the Instagram rules to know?

Good to know

  • Instagram cannot post text without media — every post needs at least one image or video.
  • Instagram Reels processing is asynchronous — a Reel may take a moment to finish encoding before it appears.
  • Instagram does not support animated GIF posts via the publishing API.
  • Instagram does not support clickable links in captions — a pasted URL is inert plain text.
  • Instagram does not support link-preview cards, polls, or a separate title field.

What does it look like in practice?

A 400-character caption on Instagram

Instagram shows about the first 125 characters before "…more", so 275 of the 400 are hidden until someone taps. Put the hook in those first 125.

35 hashtags on Instagram

That is 5 over the 30 SkedCast allows for Instagram, so the post is flagged before it publishes rather than going out with tags dropped.

Searching “heart” for an Instagram caption

Typing heart narrows the grid to every curated heart emoji — from ❤️ to 💔 — in one search, ready to click and copy straight into your Instagram caption.

Instagram emoji picker FAQ

How many emoji should I use in an Instagram post?
Instagram captions and comments lean into emoji heavily — reaction rows, emoji bullet lists and sign-offs are all common there.
Can I post text only on Instagram?
No. Every Instagram post needs at least one image or video; the caption rides along with the media.
Will Instagram cut off a long caption?
In the feed, yes: Instagram shows roughly the first 125 characters and hides the rest behind "…more", so put the hook and any call to action first.
How many hashtags can an Instagram post have?
SkedCast flags anything over 30 hashtags on an Instagram post before it publishes, so a post never goes out with tags Instagram would drop.
What happens to a link in an Instagram post?
The link counts at its real length, and Instagram shows no link-preview card for it.
Is this emoji picker specific to Instagram?
No — it is the same universal Unicode emoji picker used across every platform SkedCast supports. Instagram renders standard Unicode emoji with its own visual style, but the underlying character set is identical everywhere.
