How do you calculate Facebook Pages engagement rate?

Add up the interactions for a period, divide by your followers multiplied by the number of posts, and multiply by 100. That is engagement rate by followers, the method most reports use. Engagement rate by reach divides each post’s interactions by the accounts that saw it instead, which rewards posts that land well with the people who see them.

What counts as engagement on Facebook Pages?

Facebook shows reactions, comments and shares under every Page post, and every reaction type counts, from Like to Angry, so put the reaction total in the calculator’s likes field. Meta’s Page insights also count clicks, the times people clicked anywhere on a post without creating a story; add them if you want a fuller rate, but do it every time. Views are the times a post was played or displayed, and viewers the different people who saw it.

How do you use the Facebook engagement rate calculator?

  1. Enter your Facebook followers. Use your current Facebook follower or audience count for the account you are measuring.
  2. Add likes, comments and shares. Copy the totals for the period straight from Facebook’s own analytics or insights screen.
  3. Enter the number of posts. Count how many Facebook posts you published in that same period; the rate is an average per post.
  4. Read the rate. The result updates as you type: total engagements and the engagement rate as a percentage, with the formula shown underneath.
  5. Compare like with like. Use the same period length and the same method every time you check it, then compare against your own earlier Facebook results.

Good to know

  • Facebook can only post to Pages you administer — not to a personal profile/timeline.
  • Facebook Reels must be a single vertical (9:16) video, roughly 3–90 seconds long.
  • Facebook does not support polls via the API.
  • You cannot mix photos and video in one Facebook feed post — a video must be the only media item.
  • Facebook posts have no separate title field.

What does it look like in practice?

What 0.15% means on Facebook Pages

At the 0.15% average from Socialinsider, 2026 Social Media Benchmarks report, a Facebook Pages account with 5,000 followers would see about 8 engagements on a typical post. 16 on the same audience is twice the average.

8,000 Facebook followers, 8 posts

640 likes + 96 comments + 64 shares = 800 engagements. 800 ÷ (8,000 × 8) = 0.0125, so the Facebook engagement rate is 1.25% per post.

How do you track Facebook Pages engagement over time?

SkedCast’s Analytics collects each published Facebook Page post’s views, viewers, clicks, comments, shares and reactions by type, beside your other networks. Comments count other people’s comments only, leaving out the Page’s own replies and first comments, so your rate is not inflated by your own activity. See SkedCast analytics for every report, and the Facebook Pages scheduler for planning the posts you measure.

Facebook Pages engagement rate FAQ

What is a good engagement rate on Facebook Pages?
Socialinsider, 2026 Social Media Benchmarks report puts the average Facebook Pages post at 0.15% (70 million posts analyzed, January 2024-December 2025). Compare your own rate with that average, and with your own past months, rather than with another platform.
How often should I post on Facebook Pages?
Socialinsider, 2026 Social Media Benchmarks report: ~6 / week (24 / month) · HeyOrca, 2026 posting-frequency survey: 2-5 / week (Evenly split between 2-3x/week and 4-5x/week in the survey.)
Is engagement on Facebook Pages going down?
Rival IQ, Social Media Industry Benchmark Report found Facebook Pages engagement down 36% year on year, so a lower rate than last year is not necessarily your content; compare against the platform trend.
How many characters can a Facebook Pages post have?
A Facebook Pages post can run to 63,206 characters, as SkedCast checks it before publishing. Length does not change the engagement-rate formula.
How do you calculate Facebook engagement rate?
This calculator uses engagement rate by followers: (likes + comments + shares) ÷ (followers × posts) × 100, applied to whatever numbers you enter from Facebook.
Is this calculator built specifically for Facebook?
The formula is the same on every platform, so it is the same calculator as our general engagement rate tool; this page explains which Facebook numbers to enter.
Do Facebook reactions count as likes in the engagement rate?
Yes. Count every reaction type, not only Likes, and enter the total in the likes field.
Should I include clicks in a Facebook engagement rate?
You can: Meta counts clicks anywhere on a post as engagement. Including them raises the rate, so either always include them or never, and say which when you compare.
Does Facebook still report impressions?
Meta is retiring its post impressions metrics in favour of views, the times a post was played or displayed. Views are not interactions, so they stay out of the engagement rate.
