YouTube content calendar template

This YouTube content calendar template is the same CSV-generating calendar as SkedCast’s general content calendar template, pre-seeded with two long-form slots a week, Shorts in between and content pillars suited to YouTube (Long-form tutorial, Shorts — quick tip, Behind the scenes, Product walkthrough, Community / Q&A). Pick a month, adjust the days, time, platforms or pillars if you want something different, then download the result as a CSV for Excel, Google Sheets or a SkedCast bulk import.

Posting days

Local wall-clock time for every slot. Adjust individual rows in your spreadsheet.

Platforms

Optional. Written into the Account column of every row.

Separate with commas. The pillars rotate across your posting days so consecutive posts cover different themes.

Your calendar preview

Choose a month to build your calendar.

The file also has empty Caption, Media URL, First comment and Hashtags columns, plus a Status column starting at “Idea”, ready to fill in.

How to use the YouTube content calendar template

  1. Pick a month. Choose the month you're planning for; the calendar fills in every YouTube-ticked weekday of that month.
  2. Review the YouTube defaults. 2 weekdays are pre-ticked at 15:00 and YouTube is pre-selected as the platform — adjust either if your own cadence differs.
  3. Edit the content pillars. The pillar textarea is pre-filled with pillars suited to this platform; rewrite it with your own recurring themes if you use different ones.
  4. Add an account or client name (optional). Type an account or client name to have it written into every generated row — useful when you manage more than one profile.
  5. Download and fill in the rest. Download the CSV, then write your captions, attach media links and add hashtags in your spreadsheet before scheduling.

Worked examples

A typical YouTube month

With 2 days ticked a week and 5 content pillars rotating in order, a 30-day month produces roughly 8–10 planning rows for YouTube alone — more if you tick additional platforms at the same time.

Same generator, different platform

Swap the platform checkbox from YouTube to any other SkedCast-supported platform and the same month, days and pillars carry over — see the other five platform-seeded calendars linked below.

YouTube content calendar FAQ

How often should I post on YouTube?
General 2026 benchmarks put long-form YouTube uploads at roughly once or twice a week, while Shorts can run considerably more often without the same production overhead — this calendar defaults to two weekday slots (Tue, Fri) for your main uploads; add extra ticked days for a separate Shorts cadence.
Is this a separate calendar tool built just for YouTube?
No — it is the same content-calendar generator as SkedCast’s general content calendar template, pre-seeded with YouTube-appropriate defaults (posting days, time and content pillars) so you do not have to set them up yourself.
Can I change the defaults?
Yes — every default is just a starting point. Tick different days, change the time, add or remove platforms, and rewrite the content pillars before you download.
What columns does the downloaded CSV have?
Date, Time, Platform, Account, Content pillar, Caption, Media URL, First comment, Hashtags and Status. The identifying columns are filled in; Caption, Media URL, First comment and Hashtags are left blank for you to write.
Does the tool store or upload anything I type?
No — the calendar is generated entirely in your browser from the days, time, platforms and pillars you choose; nothing is uploaded or saved anywhere.
Can I plan more than one platform at once with the YouTube calendar?
Yes — the platform list includes every platform SkedCast supports, not just YouTube; this page only pre-ticks YouTube and its typical cadence by default.
