- A Threads account in good standing, signed in through the Instagram account it’s tied to.
How to connect Threads
- 1In SkedCast, go to Settings → Connections and click Connect Threads.
- 2Sign in with the Instagram account your Threads profile is linked to, and approve the requested permissions — see the exact scopes on the Threads integration page.
- 3SkedCast confirms the connection and shows your Threads username.
Common connection problems
- Threads disconnects on its own with no obvious cause.
- Threads authenticates through your Instagram identity, so an Instagram password change or a security check on that account can break the Threads connection too, even though you didn’t touch Threads directly. Reconnect from Connections.
- Posts fail with a token or session error.
- Threads’ long-lived access token lasts about 60 days and refreshes automatically between 24 hours and 60 days old. If that window is missed, the token can’t be renewed in place and a full reconnect is needed.
- A private Threads profile stops publishing after a few months of no changes.
- On a private Threads profile, the permissions you granted can expire on their own roughly 90-day clock — separate from the access token itself. If your profile is private, plan to reconnect periodically even if nothing else changed.

- Why does connecting Threads ask me to sign in with Instagram?
- Threads doesn’t have its own separate login — it authenticates through your Instagram account. Signing in with Instagram is the correct, expected step, not a mix-up.
- Does a Threads connection expire faster if my profile is private?
- The granted permissions on a private Threads profile can lapse on their own roughly 90-day clock, in addition to the normal 60-day access-token expiry — so a private profile may need reconnecting somewhat more proactively.
