How to edit or delete a scheduled Instagram post

Yes, until it publishes. Where you change it depends on where it was scheduled. A post scheduled in Instagram’s own app is held by Instagram and managed from your profile. A post scheduled in SkedCast is held by SkedCast: Instagram has no scheduling interface for apps, so SkedCast keeps the post and publishes it at the set time, which is why every part of it stays editable until then.

Instagram’s help centre gives two routes to scheduled content (read 4 November 2026):

Open the post from Posts or the content calendar any time before it publishes. You can change the caption, swap or add media (a photo, a carousel of up to 10 items, a Reel or a Story), edit alt text, user tags, collaborators and the first comment, turn comments on or off, or pick a new time. Drag it to another day on the calendar to reschedule, or cancel it to take it out of the queue. If your workspace uses approvals, an edited post goes back for review, so what publishes is always what was approved.

Partly, in the Instagram app. Tap the options above the post, then Edit, to change the caption, the location, the accounts you tagged and the alt text. You cannot reorder, replace or remove the photos and videos of a shared post, carousels included; to change them, delete the post and share it again. SkedCast does not change a live Instagram post, so make those edits in the app.

It moves to Recently deleted, where Instagram keeps it for 30 days and you can restore it, likes and comments included. After that it is removed for good. A post you share again in its place is a new post with no likes, comments or views.
