Key takeaways
- LinkedIn documents a window (up to 3 months ahead), not a cap on the number of scheduled posts. Neither help page read states one.
- The window differs slightly by page: 10 minutes to 3 months for a profile post, an hour to 3 months for a Company Page post. The profile page is marked as last updated about two years ago.
- Natively you cannot schedule events, jobs or services. Company Page posts also cannot be scheduled as multi-photo posts, polls or reshares.
- LinkedIn’s API creates posts as published; scheduling is done by the scheduler. Company Page publishing needs a separate organisation permission from LinkedIn.
How many posts can you schedule on LinkedIn?
LinkedIn does not state a number. Its Schedule posts help page and its Pages scheduling page describe how far ahead you can schedule, and neither states a maximum count of scheduled posts. That is not the same as “unlimited”: it means no figure is documented, so anyone quoting one is estimating. What is documented is the window and the exclusions:
| Question | What LinkedIn says | Source |
|---|---|---|
| Number of scheduled posts | No maximum stated on either page | Schedule posts; Scheduled posts for LinkedIn Pages |
| Window, personal profile | From 10 minutes to 3 months ahead (the page is marked as last updated about two years ago) | Schedule posts |
| Window, Company Page | From an hour to 3 months ahead | Scheduled posts for LinkedIn Pages |
| Who can schedule a Page post | A super admin or content admin of the Page | Scheduled posts for LinkedIn Pages |
| Not schedulable, profile posts | Events, jobs and services | Schedule posts |
| Not schedulable, Page posts | Events, multiple photos, reshares, polls, jobs and services | Scheduled posts for LinkedIn Pages |
| After scheduling | You can edit the post, change the schedule, post now or delete it | Schedule posts; Scheduled posts for LinkedIn Pages |
Is there a daily limit on how many LinkedIn posts you can publish?
The two help pages read state no daily post cap for a profile or a Page either. The question that matters is how often to post, and the published guidance is a recommendation. Buffer’s frequency guide, updated 13 January 2026, says to post two to five times a week on LinkedIn, based on its own data, with reach higher again at 6–10 posts a week. That is an observation about performance, not a rule LinkedIn enforces. The full comparison of studies is in the LinkedIn posting schedule guide, and the site’s posting limits reference has the quick version.
Can a scheduling tool go beyond LinkedIn’s 3-month window?
Yes, because a tool such as SkedCast holds the post itself. LinkedIn’s Posts API creates a post as published: the documentation lists “published” as the only value accepted when creating a post, and it has no publish-at field, so nothing on LinkedIn’s side waits for a future time. The scheduler keeps the post in its own calendar and sends it to LinkedIn when the time arrives. That is why LinkedIn’s 3-month window and its list of unschedulable types describe LinkedIn’s own composer, not what a scheduler can hold. The scheduler’s own date range is separate, and SkedCast’s composer tells you if a date is outside it.
One thing that does not change: at the moment of publishing, LinkedIn’s own posting rules apply.
What about personal profiles versus Company Pages?
They are different permissions at LinkedIn’s API. Posting for a member uses the w_member_social permission. Posting for an organisation uses w_organization_social, which LinkedIn restricts to people who hold an administrator, content admin or direct sponsored content poster role on the Page. LinkedIn grants organisation-level access to a developer application separately from member posting, so a scheduler’s ability to publish to Company Pages depends on that access being in place.
For SkedCast this means a personal profile connects straight away, while Company Page publishing depends on the organisation permission LinkedIn grants separately, so it is not something to assume for every workspace. See how to schedule LinkedIn posts for the connection steps.
Are there LinkedIn API limits a scheduler has to respect?
LinkedIn rate-limits its API in two ways, per application and per member, counted over a 24-hour period that resets at midnight UTC, and returns a 429 response when one is exceeded. Its documentation says standard rate limits are not published; a developer looks up an endpoint’s limit in the Developer Portal’s Analytics tab. So there is no public per-day number to quote for API posting, and this guide does not invent one. Being rate-limited is a scheduler’s problem to handle, not a limit on how many posts your calendar can hold.
What are SkedCast’s LinkedIn rules once a post is scheduled?
SkedCast checks a LinkedIn post against its composer rules when you schedule it: up to 3,000 characters (a link counts at its full length), text-only posts allowed, up to 20 images or one video, and a poll question that cannot be combined with media. You can also add a first comment that posts right after the post publishes. See how to schedule LinkedIn polls and how to bulk schedule LinkedIn posts.

FAQ
- How many posts can you schedule on LinkedIn?
- LinkedIn’s help pages state no maximum number of scheduled posts. They give a window: from about 10 minutes (an hour for Company Pages) up to 3 months ahead. That is not a promise of unlimited posts, only that no figure is documented.
- How far in advance can you schedule a LinkedIn post?
- Up to 3 months ahead in LinkedIn’s own scheduler, for profiles and Company Pages, per LinkedIn Help (read 23 September 2026).
- What can’t you schedule on LinkedIn?
- Events, jobs and services cannot be scheduled natively. For Company Page posts, LinkedIn also lists multiple photos, reshares and polls as not schedulable.
- Is there a daily limit on LinkedIn posts?
- The LinkedIn help pages read state no daily post cap. Buffer’s data-based guidance is two to five posts a week, which is a recommendation rather than a limit.
- Can I schedule LinkedIn posts for a Company Page with a tool?
- Only where the tool has organisation-level access from LinkedIn, and you hold an admin or content admin role on the Page. With SkedCast a personal profile connects straight away, while Company Page publishing depends on the separate permission LinkedIn grants.
- Does LinkedIn’s API let a tool schedule posts?
- The Posts API creates posts as published and has no publish-at field, so a scheduler holds the post itself and publishes it at the time you set.
