Key takeaways
- Pinterest’s RSS auto-publish needs a business account with a claimed website; new items become Pins within about a day, up to 200 Pins a day.
- The feed’s images come from the image, enclosure or media:content tags, the Pin title and description from the item’s title and description tags.
- Instagram and Facebook do not publish to Pinterest by themselves; you create a Pin from the image, or schedule one in a scheduler.
- Every Pin needs an image and a destination board; SkedCast’s RSS auto-post makes text-and-link posts (no image), so it does not build Pins.
How do you cross-post to Pinterest, by source?
The answer depends on where the content starts. The blog route is automatic; the social routes are not.
| Source | Route | Automatic? |
|---|---|---|
| Blog or website | Pinterest’s RSS auto-publish (business account, claimed website) | Yes, within about a day of a feed update |
| Instagram posts and Reels | Create a Pin from the same image, or schedule a Pin in a scheduler | No |
| Facebook posts | Create a Pin from the same image or link, or schedule one | No |
| A batch of designed Pins | Schedule them from one calendar, or use Pinterest’s bulk Pin creation | You set the times |
How does Pinterest’s RSS auto-publish work?
Per Pinterest’s Business help, you connect an RSS feed from Settings, under bulk Pin creation, on a business account. The option only appears if you have a claimed website. Pinterest then creates Pins from the feed:
- The feed must be XML with each item linking to your claimed domain.
- Images come from the image, enclosure or media:content tags; the Pin’s title and description from the item’s title and description tags.
- New items are added to the board you choose within about a day of a feed update, oldest first, up to 200 Pins a day.
- You can connect as many feeds as you like, as long as they match your claimed website, and each feed can publish to a different board.
How do you get Instagram or Facebook content onto Pinterest?
Neither platform publishes to Pinterest itself, so you make a Pin from the asset. The best results come from redesigning the image vertical (Pinterest’s feed shape is 2:3) rather than reposting a square. In SkedCast a Pin needs an image (up to 5 for a multi-image Pin), a board, and optionally a title (up to 100 characters) with a description of up to 800 characters, and Pinterest has no scheduling parameter in its publishing API, so SkedCast holds the Pin and publishes it at the time you set.
How do you schedule the Pins with SkedCast?
A workflow that reuses one design across platforms:
- Connect your Pinterest business account (it needs permission to write to boards).
- Design a 2:3 vertical version of the image, and the 4:5 or 1:1 version for Instagram and Facebook.
- In the composer, tick the Pinterest account alongside the others and choose the destination board — a board is required, and SkedCast will not guess it.
- Write a Pin title and a description written for search, not the Instagram caption.
- Schedule it. For the same Pin idea across many boards, add further Pinterest targets.
What are Pinterest’s own scheduling limits?
Pinterest’s Business help says a business account can schedule Pins up to 30 days ahead, one at a time, with up to 10 Pins scheduled for the future at once; once scheduled you can change the date, title, board, description and link, but not the image or video. A scheduler holds the Pin itself, so a month of Pins does not run into the 10-Pin ceiling. When to pin is covered in the Pinterest posting schedule guide.

FAQ
- Can Instagram posts be sent to Pinterest automatically?
- We found no built-in way. Instagram does not publish to Pinterest, so you create a Pin from the image manually or schedule one with a scheduler.
- How do I auto-publish blog posts to Pinterest?
- Connect your blog’s RSS feed under Pinterest’s bulk Pin creation settings. It needs a business account with a claimed website; Pinterest creates Pins from new feed items within about a day, up to 200 a day.
- Why can’t I see the RSS feed option in Pinterest?
- Per Pinterest’s Business help, the option only appears if you have a claimed website, and it is set up from a desktop browser.

- Pinterest’s feed favours vertical images; SkedCast’s composer recommends 2:3 for Pins. See the Pinterest image size guide for pixel dimensions.
