Switch from Buffer to SkedCast
Buffer’s help center says it does not currently support exporting scheduled posts directly, and suggests Zapier as the workaround. Buffer’s own developer API, available on every plan, does document a query that lists scheduled posts. Here is the honest route to move, and exactly what Buffer’s help pages say.
What can you take with you from Buffer?
Scheduled posts
Buffer’s help center says it does not currently support exporting scheduled posts directly, and suggests Zapier (to Google Sheets or a calendar) as a workaround. Buffer’s developer docs, though, list a “Get Scheduled Posts” query in its GraphQL API, which Buffer says is available on every plan including Free. Published posts can be exported to CSV from Insights on paid plans.
Disconnecting or cancelling
Disconnect a channel from your avatar › Channels › the three dots next to a channel › Disconnect Channel › type “disconnect” to confirm; Buffer says this removes the channel’s posts, comments, analytics and data and cannot be recovered. Cancelling (avatar › Billing › three dots › Cancel Plan, owner only) keeps your plan until the end of the billing period, then drops the account to Free, where a channel with more than 10 scheduled posts keeps publishing all of them unless the channel is locked (Free allows 3 channels).
How do you move from Buffer to SkedCast?
- Get your queue out of Buffer. The Buffer app has no export of scheduled posts; its help center suggests Zapier. Buffer’s GraphQL API has a “Get Scheduled Posts” query if you can run one. Otherwise list what is still scheduled from Buffer’s calendar view and put it into a CSV.
- Bulk-import the CSV into SkedCast. Upload the CSV to SkedCast’s bulk import. Every row is validated against the platform it targets, so a bad row is fixed in the import instead of failing at publish time.
- Reconnect each account. Connect each social account in SkedCast through its own official sign-in. Group accounts by client if you manage several.
- Keep Buffer running until the queue is rebuilt. Disconnecting a channel in Buffer removes that channel’s posts and cannot be undone, so wait until every post is confirmed live in SkedCast before disconnecting.
- Cancel Buffer once you are fully switched. Cancel from your avatar › Billing › Cancel Plan (owner only) once every channel is moved. Your plan runs to the end of the billing period and then drops to Free.
