Partner Disclosure Rules
These rules are part of the Partner Program Agreement. They exist because the law in most countries treats a paid recommendation as advertising, and an audience is entitled to know that you earn from a link or code. A partner who does not follow them can lose their commission and their account.
1. The rule in one paragraph
Whenever you promote SkedCast, say clearly, close to the promotion and in the language of your audience, that you earn a commission or reward if someone signs up through your link or code. Do it every time, on every channel, for every format, and do not rely on a profile bio, a link-in-bio page, or a hashtag lost among others.
2. The rules behind it
These are the main rules that apply. This is a summary for your convenience, not a full statement of the law. You are responsible for the rules of every country where your audience is.
- United States: the FTC Endorsement Guides (16 CFR Part 255) require a clear and conspicuous disclosure of a material connection, and the FTC rule on consumer reviews and testimonials (16 CFR Part 465) bans fake or undisclosed-insider reviews.
- United Kingdom: the Advertising Standards Authority and the CAP Code require advertising to be obviously identifiable as such, and the ASA's influencer guidance expects a clear label such as "Ad" or "Advert" up front. The Consumer Protection from Unfair Trading Regulations and the Digital Markets, Competition and Consumers Act 2024 apply as well.
- European Union: the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive, as amended by the Omnibus Directive, prohibits hidden advertising and fake reviews, and national rules add detail.
- Canada, Australia and elsewhere: similar rules apply. If your audience is there, follow the local rule.
- Platforms: each platform has its own branded-content rules and tools. Where a platform provides a paid-partnership or branded-content tool, use it as well as the words.
3. What to write, by channel
The partner portal gives you approved lines for your market. These are examples of what works:
- A short social post: start with "#ad" or "Ad:" and add a sentence such as "I earn a commission if you sign up with this link." A hashtag alone is not enough.
- A video or a livestream: say it out loud near the start and show it on screen, for example "This video contains an affiliate link. I earn a commission if you sign up." Repeat it if you promote again later.
- A podcast or audio: say it before the promotion and not only in the show notes.
- A blog post or article: a sentence before the first link: "This article contains affiliate links. If you sign up through them, SkedCast pays me a commission."
- An email newsletter: the same sentence, above the first link and not only in the footer.
- Any link: put the word "affiliate" in or next to the link text, for example "SkedCast (affiliate link)".
- Replies and comments: disclose in each reply that contains your link or code, not only once in the thread.
- Reposts and clips: keep the disclosure when you repost, and do not crop it out of a clip.
4. Clear and conspicuous means
- it is near the claim it relates to, and seen or heard without clicking, expanding or scrolling;
- it is in plain words, not jargon such as "partner", "collab" or "sp" on its own;
- it is visible against the background and on a mobile screen, and readable for as long as the promotion is;
- it is in the same language as the promotion.
5. What you may and may not say
Say only what the approved materials support. Do not claim that SkedCast guarantees reach, growth or earnings, that it does things it does not do, or that it works on platforms it does not support. Do not give a false impression of how you use the product: if you have not used a feature, do not say you have.
You may describe the customer discount only in the words the portal gives you and only while it applies. A customer discount is a benefit of SkedCast's own offer. Do not state or imply that the discount comes from you, or that a link costs the reader less or more than going to SkedCast directly, other than by the approved wording. Say that the offer is subject to the terms shown at checkout.
If you use AI to make content, or if an image or voice is not real, follow the platform's rules for labelling it. Do not use fake reviews, invented testimonials or incentivised reviews, and do not review SkedCast under another name.
Paid ads for SkedCast are allowed only as the Agreement permits. Do not bid on the SkedCast name, and label every paid ad as an ad.
6. Codes, deal sites and giveaways
Do not put your code or link on coupon, deal, voucher or cash-back sites without our written approval. If you run a giveaway that involves SkedCast, tell us first, state the rules and the odds clearly, and follow the platform's promotion rules. Do not offer money or gifts for signing up unless we approve it in writing.
7. If you get it wrong
We monitor partner content. If we see a missing or weak disclosure, we ask you to fix it and give you time to do so. Serious or repeated failures can lead to commission being withheld or reversed, suspension, or termination under the Agreement. A regulator may also act against you directly: the responsibility for what you publish is yours.
8. Questions
If you are unsure whether a post is compliant, ask before you publish. Write to support from your partner account and we will help.
