# Connect Windsurf to SkedCast with MCP
URL: https://skedcast.com/developers/guides/mcp-windsurf

Windsurf keeps its MCP configuration in mcp_config.json. Add SkedCast from the Cascade MCP menu or edit the file directly, then refresh the list so Cascade picks up the tools.

## The connection
Property | Value
Endpoint | `https://api.skedcast.com/mcp`
Transport | Streamable HTTP
Auth | OAuth 2.1: the client runs the sign-in for you. The MCP server does not accept API keys.
SkedCast plan | MCP access depends on your SkedCast plan (see pricing).
Tools | 79 tools: 44 that read and 35 that change your workspace. See the MCP tools reference for the full list.

## Last checked 2026-11-04
These steps follow Windsurf's documentation as of 2026-11-04. Menus and plan rules change. If a step differs in your version, follow Windsurf's page: https://docs.devin.ai/windsurf/plugins/cascade/mcp

## Add SkedCast to Windsurf
Go to Settings → Tools → Windsurf Settings → Add Server, or choose Open MCP config file in Cascade's MCP menu. After you add the server, press the refresh button.
Windsurf's documentation gives the config file as `~/.config/devin/mcp_config.json` on macOS and Linux and `%AppData%/devin/mcp_config.json` on Windows. Older builds use `~/.codeium/windsurf/mcp_config.json`. Open MCP config file opens the file your build reads.

## mcp_config.json: a remote server takes a serverUrl.
```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "skedcast": {
      "serverUrl": "https://api.skedcast.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

## Sign in
Windsurf supports OAuth for remote servers, and SkedCast supports dynamic client registration, so Cascade runs the sign-in the first time it uses the server. The MCP server does not accept API keys.

## Plan requirement
On a Windsurf Teams plan, team admins turn MCP access on and allowlist servers. Once any server is allowlisted, servers that aren't on the list are blocked. On Enterprise, users enable MCP in their settings. SkedCast's MCP access depends on your SkedCast plan (see the table above).

## Write tools change your workspace
The write tools (the ones that create, edit, reschedule, cancel or delete things) are marked non-read-only. A well-behaved MCP host asks you to confirm before the agent calls one. The agent's effective power is always your scopes ∩ your access, so it can never do more than you could do by hand.

## FAQ
**Q: The server doesn't appear after I saved the config. What now?**
A: Press the refresh button in Cascade's MCP menu and check that the server shows as enabled. On a Teams plan, an admin allowlist can also block servers that aren't on it.

**Q: Which config file does my Windsurf read?**
A: It depends on your build. Use Open MCP config file in Cascade's MCP menu to open the file your installation reads, and edit that one.
