# Connect Claude Code to SkedCast with MCP
URL: https://skedcast.com/developers/guides/mcp-claude-code

Claude Code (Anthropic's command-line coding agent) adds a remote MCP server with one terminal command, with no config file to edit by hand.

## The connection
Property | Value
Endpoint | `https://api.skedcast.com/mcp`
Transport | Streamable HTTP
Auth | OAuth 2.1: the client runs the sign-in for you. The MCP server does not accept API keys.
SkedCast plan | MCP access depends on your SkedCast plan (see pricing).
Tools | 79 tools: 44 that read and 35 that change your workspace. See the MCP tools reference for the full list.

## Last checked 2026-11-04
These steps follow Anthropic's documentation as of 2026-11-04. Menus and plan rules change. If a step differs in your version, follow Anthropic's page: https://code.claude.com/docs/en/mcp

## Add SkedCast to Claude Code
```bash
claude mcp add --transport http skedcast https://api.skedcast.com/mcp
# then, inside a Claude Code session:
/mcp
```

## Connect Claude Code to SkedCast with MCP
`/mcp` shows connection status and walks you through the browser sign-in. Check that skedcast shows as connected, then ask Claude Code directly ("list my scheduled posts for next week") and it calls the tools for you.

## Where the config is stored
`--scope local` (the default) keeps the server for you in this project. `--scope project` writes it to `.mcp.json` so teammates share it. `--scope user` makes it available in all your projects.

## .mcp.json for a shared project. A url entry needs type set to http.
```json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "skedcast": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://api.skedcast.com/mcp"
    }
  }
}
```

## Plan requirement
Anthropic's MCP page lists no plan requirement for adding a remote server. Check Anthropic's documentation for what your Claude Code account includes.

## Write tools change your workspace
The write tools (the ones that create, edit, reschedule, cancel or delete things) are marked non-read-only. A well-behaved MCP host asks you to confirm before the agent calls one. The agent's effective power is always your scopes ∩ your access, so it can never do more than you could do by hand.

## FAQ
**Q: Do I need an API key?**
A: No. The OAuth sign-in handles everything: Claude Code finds the authorization server, registers itself and opens a browser for you to sign in and approve. The MCP server does not accept API keys.

**Q: Can I limit which tools Claude Code can use?**
A: The effective permissions are your account's scopes ∩ your access, as with any MCP client. You can't give Claude Code more than your own SkedCast access allows, and you can approve write-tool calls one by one.
