# Connect ChatGPT to SkedCast with MCP
URL: https://skedcast.com/developers/guides/mcp-chatgpt

ChatGPT can schedule and publish posts once you add SkedCast as a custom MCP server. You enter SkedCast's endpoint, ChatGPT runs the sign-in, and the tools appear in chat. Write tools are marked as changing your workspace, so ChatGPT should ask before running them.

## The connection
Property | Value
Endpoint | `https://api.skedcast.com/mcp`
Transport | Streamable HTTP
Auth | OAuth 2.1: the client runs the sign-in for you. The MCP server does not accept API keys.
SkedCast plan | MCP access depends on your SkedCast plan (see pricing).
Tools | 79 tools: 44 that read and 35 that change your workspace. See the MCP tools reference for the full list.

These steps follow OpenAI's documentation as of 2026-11-04. Menus and plan rules change. If a step differs in your version, follow OpenAI's page: https://developers.openai.com/apps-sdk/deploy/connect-chatgpt

## Add SkedCast to ChatGPT
- In ChatGPT, start a new custom MCP server. OpenAI's guide begins at chatgpt.com/plugins with the plus button and Add custom MCP server. ChatGPT's menu names change, so follow OpenAI's page if yours differ.
- Enter a name and a description. Under Connection, choose Public endpoint and enter the connector URL below, including the `/mcp` path.
- Choose OAuth for authentication. ChatGPT opens the SkedCast sign-in and consent screen, and you approve access there.
- Review the risk warning, confirm, and create the connector. Then review the tools ChatGPT lists.

## Write tools change your workspace
The write tools (the ones that create, edit, reschedule, cancel or delete things) are marked non-read-only. A well-behaved MCP host asks you to confirm before the agent calls one. The agent's effective power is always your scopes ∩ your access, so it can never do more than you could do by hand.

## FAQ
**Q: Which ChatGPT plans can connect?**
A: OpenAI decides that. Custom MCP servers depend on your ChatGPT plan and, in a Business or Enterprise workspace, on whether an admin allows them. Check OpenAI's documentation for your plan.

**Q: Will ChatGPT publish a post without asking me first?**
A: Write tools are marked non-read-only, so a well-behaved MCP host asks for confirmation before calling them. Confirmation prompts are set by ChatGPT, so review each action it proposes.
